If you are unable to complete your course during the course contract period, you may apply for and purchase up to three 2-month extensions.
The deadline to apply for a course extension is one month prior to your contract end date. So if your course ends on September 30, for example, you must make your request for a course extension by August 31. Your course extension starts on the first day of the month following your course contract end date.
You may not extend a challenge for credit or grouped study course. If you are in receipt of student financial aid, you need to speak to a Student Financial Aid Advisor prior to requesting an extension to determine if extending your course will have an impact on your funding entitlement.
You can extend your individualized study course through the myAU portal. Choose the Apply for a Course Extension option as shown below.
If you are submitting a course extension request by fax or by post, it must be received by the Office of the Registrar on or prior to the extension request deadline.
