Transfer Credit : Current Student Program

Transfer credit is the recognition of course work that has been completed in a formal, post-secondary institution or recognized organization. Credit courses completed at other appropriately accredited institutions may be considered for transfer credit to AU programs through a block transfer arrangement or on a course-by-course basis.

Transcripts from other institutions must be submitted for evaluation to determine if the coursework is acceptable for transfer credit. Your transcripts cannot be officially evaluated unless you are enrolled in a program at Athabasca University and must be sent to AU directly from the original institution.

You will be asked during the application process if you would like an evaluation of your previous education. If selected, you will be required to pay a one-time non-refundable evaluation fee to have official transcripts assessed; course outlines might also be required.

To find out how your course credits might transfer to an AU degree, click here to use our online transfer credit assessment tool. Note that the equivalencies reflected on this site are not guaranteed credit awards. Rather, they reflect prior evaluation results and articulation agreements and can give students an idea of how external courses may transfer to AU.

More information on evaluations and transfer credit can be found in Section 6.8 of the AU Calendar at
