Course Selection : Prospective Students - Program

If you have questions about which course is right for you or how a course fits within an AU program, Advising Services can help.

If you are a program student, you need to select courses as specified within your program requirements. Undergraduate programs are generally made up of required courses, elective courses, and option courses.

  • Required courses are specific courses that must be completed as a part of your degree.
  • Elective courses are selected from a specified list in order to fulfill the program requirements.
  • Option courses are selected from any area of study to complete degree requirements.

If you are an unclassified student, you will select courses based upon your specific needs. You need to ensure you have the appropriate prerequisite for the course.

If you are a visiting student, you should obtain a letter of permission from your home institution. For more information on the specific procedures, contact your home institution.

Please contact Advising Services for assistance with any of your course selection needs.
