A refund of tuition, less a course withdrawal processing fee, may be granted if you formally withdraw from an individualized study course either before or within 30 days after the course contract start date.
You may not receive a refund or withdraw from a course in which you have written the final exam, after all coursework has been submitted for marking if there is no final exam, or if you are involved in a disciplinary proceeding involving academic or non-academic misconduct.
You can withdraw from most courses through the myAU portal. Choose the Withdraw from a Course option as shown below. Tuition refunds are processed within approximately 45 days of Athabasca University’s receipt of the course withdrawal request. Your refund will be processed according to your method of payment.
Note that different regulations apply if you are withdrawing from an on-site grouped study course.
A refund of the learning resources fee will be considered only if you meet the tuition refund criteria and the University receives the learning resources complete, unmarked, and undamaged within 30 days of your course withdrawal date. You will not receive a refund for learning resources received by the University outside this time frame.
All fees, other than those indicated above, are non-refundable.
